The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces working timelessly for the betterment of veterans and the community.

Chewelah VFW Post #2047 was chartered in 1973, has a very proactive membership lending various types of assistance to local veterans, contributing within the local communities in a variety of ways including benefit fund raising, honor guard for veteran memorial services, Patriotic essay contests within local schools, teacher of the year program, high school scholarships and much more. Youth activities are open to students and homeschooled students in Chewelah, Valley, Springdale, Loon Lake and Summit Valley districts.

VFW meets: 3rd Monday at 7pm (at American Legion hall, Chewelah) For more information and to see if you are eligible, contact Carla Scott 509-680-0418. If you are a Veteran in need, please contact our Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Shane Moffitt 509-680-2334. If you are requesting an honor guard to perform military honors for a deceased veteran, please call Ben Paramore 509-680-1679.
