On Thursday, June 22nd, the Chewelah Faith Resources Group will be hosting an event at the Quartzite Brewery from 3-7:00 pm. The purpose is to raise funds to purchase food this summer for school age kids in the Chewelah, Valley, and Summit Valley School Districts. There will be an auction with baskets and other items available for the winning raffle ticket and a couple larger items offered by silent auction.
The TASTY (Temporary Added Sustenance to Youth) Kid’s Summer Food Program provides food for breakfast and lunch every two weeks to families with children who need help ensuring their kids receive adequate nutrition throughout the summer months. Families who are eligible for the summer food program generally have school aged children that qualify for free or reduced lunches in the nearby school districts during the school year.
The TASTY Program started in 2015 and provided supplemental food for up to 30 children in 16 families. The program has grown to assist up to 163 children in 59 families last year. The TASTY Program relies on money from grants and donations for support. We expect money raised by this fundraiser will move us towards our goal of $34,225.
In addition to attending this event, donations can be delivered or mailed to Chewelah United Church of Christ at P.O. Box 378. Make checks out to Chewelah Faith Resources Group and specify that funds are for “TASTY” in the memo field.
