Light Up the Park is a Celebration of Light, Music, and the Arts. In small town Chewelah WA, USA (pop. 2,600), this one day event fills the park with pumpkins and people of all ages. People bring carved pumpkins (or get one at the carving station) to place in the line-up of pumpkins to be lighted at dusk. Along with pumpkin lighting a Flotilla of carved, lighted pumpkins floats in the creek; a Fire Dancer and various musical groups perform on a main stage. A “Night at the Museum” features walks-through the museum with live characters; a few food booths; buskers (roaming musical performers); games for kids e.g., apple bobbing, the loudest scream, mummy wrapping; a haunted House for youngsters, ages 2-6 is presented; along with photo ops; and a launching of Sky Lanterns at the close of the event.
